The Third Trimester

Only 3 months left until my due date! When I was pregnant with Paige I really wanted the pregnancy to fly by just so I could get to meet her sooner. But this time, it seems to be going a bit too fast for me! I'm glad the first trimester is over because I felt sick all the time, but the second trimester was pretty nice. I have most of my energy back. Aside from some occasional back pain and uncomfortableness, it's been going very well. Since there's a 99.9% chance that this is going to be my last pregnancy, I really don't want to rush it anymore!

P.S. This also marks the 150th post to this blog over the past 1.75 years!

Green means Go

As a distraction one day during a long car ride, we taught Paige the rules for stop lights. Now when she sees a light coming up, she'll tell us "Green means Go" or "Red means Stop" etc.

I came across this quote today and laughed thinking of how this could come from the logic of a 2-year old:

"With a stop light, green means 'go' and yellow means 'slow down'. With a banana, however, it is quite the opposite. Yellow means 'go', green means 'whoa, slow down', and red means 'where the heck did you get that banana?'"

Happy Birthday to Mommy!

We had a small but fun celebration tonight for Jen's birthday. We went to Fridays for dinner, and then came home for Coldstone Creamery cake and presents. Paige helped me pick out the cake at Coldstone (strawberry passion), and she helped me decorate the kitchen with a happy birthday banner and balloons. She was pretty excited to sing happy birthday (we practiced in the car on the way home from day care), but she froze up when she saw all the candles on the cake. She did eventually sing it later, though.

Paige was a bit surprised when it came to eating the cake--we forgot to tell her it was ice cream cake, and with her first bite she was shaking her head in almost a panic! At first she only wanted to eat the cake...though in the end she was getting a fair bit of the ice cream too and wasn't exactly complaining.

ABC's

Here's a video of Paige singing to her baby sister. The sound isn't great, so you might have to turn up your volume to be able to hear her well.

Our breakfast conversation

This morning, after Justin had left for work Paige and I were in the kitchen eating breakfast. Here's how the conversation went:

Me: Tomorrow's my birthday
Paige: Yea
Paige: We got you a surprise
Me: Oh yea? What kind of surprise?
Paige: A birthday present
Me: What did you get me?
Paige: I want some birthday cake

Guess I'm not going to be able to get any more details than that from her!

Happy Valentine's Day

I'll make this brief because Paige is sitting on my lap right now. Our Valentine's Day started with a trip to the pediatrician's office. Paige had thrown up 2 nights in a row. On Friday night she also had a slight fever of about 99.7 and had been holding her ear a lot. Since Justin has strep throat, we didn't want to wait any longer to get her seen. Sure enough, after a really quick glance at her throat the pediatrician confirmed our fears that Paige also has strep. So we started her on antibiotics and Motrin and she is doing much better already. She slept through the entire night last night (thank goodness). Her attitude is much improved too. We went to the old house yesterday after he appointment and cleaned it up so we can give our keys back to the landlord and he can start showing it to other potential renters. Paige just watched movies on the portable dvd player and stayed out of the way for the most part.

She made the hat at daycare. They do some kind of art project or two every day!
