Happy Mama Day!

The day started with breakfast in bed. Justin brought me an omelet and toast while Paige carried in a flower and a card! Paige learned how to say "Happy Mama Day"! It was so cute.

For lunch we went to Peter Piper Pizza. This has become one of Paige's favorite restaurants. And the pizza beats that of Chuck E Cheeses by a long run.
After lunch, Daddy and Paige took me to the jewelry store for my present:

School Picture

Paige had school pictures done at daycare two weeks ago. The quality isn't the best on this because I scanned it in. I had her teachers put the barette in her hair just before she went to get the picture taken. Usually they only stay in for about 10 minutes when I try.

I know she can hold it

Wouldn't you think after not being wet for at least 2 hours, then sitting on the potty for 1 hour while drinking 2 sippy cups of milk that it would just happen? At least that's what I thought. But no, it only happens 30 seconds after putting the diaper back on. I'm not even sure I could hold it that long! I tried everything: stripped her down naked (that's the form it happened in the first time), tickled her, bribed her with cookies...nothing worked! Ah well, I'll try not to make this the potty blog every post.

I spoke with the director at daycare again about her transition into the Twaddler room. They haven't been too consistent with it. So today she was in there from about 10am until I picked her up a little after 5pm. That's the longest she has spent in there at one time. She even took a 2-hour nap in there (usually only sleeps an hour in Toddler room). The interesting thing I learned is that they don't let the kids have sippy cups. They only drink out of real cups. Maybe that's why she drank 2 cups for me tonight if she didn't get very much during the day. I guess we'll have to start practicing drinking from regular cups at home.

Potty Time!

She did it! She finally went pee pee on the potty! I know this is just the beginning, but it seems like we just got past a huge hurdle. I had checked her diaper because I thought she was saying "diapey", but it was dry. And I knew it had been at least 2 hours since she last had it changed so I took her in the bathroom to sit on her potty. We were in there for awhile. I even pulled out the bubbles to help pass the time. Then she heard the Elmo's World theme song on in the other room, so she got off her potty and started walking out of the bathroom with her pants around her ankles. I grabbed her potty and followed her into the living room. I figured it's gotta come out eventually. We watched the entire Elmo's world segment which lasted about 15 minutes and nothing happened except a nice red ring on her bottom from sitting on the plastic for so long. During this time, she managed to completely undress herself and was sitting in the middle of the living room on her potty naked! So I asked if she wanted to take a bath. Of course her answer was "no". In the art of negotiating, I told her to put her pee pee in the potty instead. I think I was in a state of shock when a few moments later I heard it! The good news is it really didn't startle her. I tried to make sure she understood what happened by letting her look in the potty and see the pee pee. The only time she seemed a little frightened is when I poured her pee pee from her potty into the big potty. So I think next time I won't share that part with her.

Who knew I could ramble on so long about pee!

Spring Flowers

Paige was exploring the flowers in our front yard. Here are some pictures I put together in a ScrapBlog.

Other sites

Just a quick reminder that there are two other places to check for pictures and such.

Mom's Scrapblog site. Mom continues to have a great time playing around with scrapblogs about Paige, the house, etc. She usually posts here when she finishes a new one--but not always, so be sure to check there for updates!

Paige's Picasa site. We'll occasionally just dump a bunch of pictures to this site, often without comment.

I've added permanent links at the top-right so that you can find those sites easily. :)

Counting to 5

Last night, we went over to play in the park again after dinner. Paige was climbing the stairs to ride the slide and as she took each step, she counted it all by herself! We didn't even prompt her. There were 5 steps and she counted each one very clearly as she stepped on it: one, two, three, four, five!

Usually when I pick her up out of the carseat or whatever, I'll go: one, two, three, UP! So, I wasn't all that surprised when she started saying one, two, three last week. But we rarely count up to 5. Must be all that Sesame Street that she's watching!
