Family Room Project - Phase 1
This weekend we started the family room remodel project. When I say "we" I mean mostly Justin and my dad. The first phase is replacing the wood paneling on the lower half of the 2 side walls. They made great progress over the weekend.
If you look closely at the before pictures you'll notice the carpet goes up the wall some as a carpet baseboard under the wood baseboard. So when we decided to replace the carpet we realized we either have to recreate that look with the new carpet or get rid of the dated wood paneling.
The "before" pictures were taken on Friday and the "afters" were on Monday morning.

We still need a few more layers of compound and then prime and painting. Not sure if we'll put a chair rail back up or not.
Phase 2 will be replacing the carpet when we get back from vacation.

6 weeks
Brooke is 6 weeks old today!
Their shirts say "big sister" and "little sister". It's the only semi-matching outfits I have for them...so far.

We weighed Brooke on our home scale and she's at about 11 pounds already which should put her in about the 75th percentile for weight. She's not sleeping for more than about 4 hours usually from around 8pm - 12pm. Then she's up every 2-3 hours after that.

Potty Trained!
Ok, I'm going to call it: Paige is potty trained!
She had an accident on Thursday at daycare, but has been perfect at home since Tuesday. She's waking up by herself to go to the potty--sometimes in the morning, a few times in the middle of the night. And for the most part, we no longer need to prompt her to go to the bathroom--she just goes when she needs to go.
On Friday, she began wearing big kid underwear, and has been perfect so far. She has a full complement of Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, and other princess underwear, plus some Elmo that we haven't tapped into yet. She's pretty excited about it all, and it's amazing to see how much better she can run around when she's not wearing diapers.
We're still going to do training pants at night for a while, as there's no real rush for her to be perfect at night--we have a huge box or two of pull-ups anyway, and most of the time she's dry and so we get several days out of each of one. :)
The only real obstacle left is daycare. She still doesn't want to use the daycare potty, and we're going to let her use a little potty and/or potty seat for the next week or so. I think she'll get it. It's just a matter of being comfortable. As I was writing this, she did ask to sit on the big potty in her bathroom, which is a great step in the right direction.
All in all, she's doing exceptionally well. We're very proud of her!
