Yesterday we drove out to State College (about 45 min - 1 hr) to see a high school production of Beauty and the Beast. We thought this would be a good trial run for Paige sitting for 2 hours to watch something like this. We haven't even taken to her the movie theater yet, so this was definitely a first for her. And it was a success! She loved every minute of it. When asked what her favorite part is she says it was the clapping :)

For a book donation (or $5) they let you come on stage at the end to have your picture taken with the cast members. We talked this part up all day and Paige was so excited to get to meet Belle in person. The other characters spooked her a little close up, so this is the only cast picture we got.

Did Paige like the Princess? don't you always wonder what little children think about larger than life characters like Belle, the beast, etc... her papa sure loved Spiderman when he was 3-- he got to meet "the real Spidy" at the Cincinnati zoo once...but seemed alittle annoyed when Spidy told the kids he wasn't allowed to crawl on the walls in there or shoot spider webs all around the room. He did jump on the tables though, which the kids liked :-)
It's hard to tell from the picture, but Paige was somewhere between ecstatic and dazed by this point. She was very excited all morning to meet Belle, and gave a running commentary of everything that happened to Belle on stage while watching the play. But I think she got a bit nervous when she finally got close to the actress, and as a result wasn't able to really interact with her much.
For the record, this was a phenomenal production. Very professional, with a great set and a surprisingly deep cast with many wonderful performances throughout. Certainly at least on par with what you'd expect from a local theater group, and much better than I dared hope when we decided to do this. Belle, though, in particular, was nothing short of outstanding.
